Please note: A satin appearance may be achieved by either adding an aluminum oxide additive or other powdered aggregates to APC 432 Clear, Aliphatic Urethane. The addition of aggregates will not only result in a satin finish, it will also add a textured surface much akin to the texture of 220-240 grit sandpaper. The resulting slip-resistant topcoat adds both safety and added durability to what would other wish be an eggshell/orange peel, semi-smooth, texture to the untreated urethane topcoat.
If a satin finish is desired, but you prefer the semi-smooth appearance without an aggregate additive, we offer NEXTECH PRO™ APC 431 Semi-Gloss/Satin, High-Performance Aliphatic Polyurethane Sealer Topcoat as an alternative.

Metallic Pigments
What are metallic pigments? Metallic pigments are special effect pigments composed of crushed mica particles coated with various organic and inorganic pigments used to create pearlescent and iridescent effects that can be used to mimic the natural look of stone and other minerals. These unique pigments are designed to be blended with 100% solids clear epoxy binders. When the metallic particles are mixed with epoxy, they give the coating a shine that reflects light and creates and eye-catching dramatic color. The shimmering play of light and color created by the pearlescent effects with metallic pigments combined with durability of resinous epoxy create contemporary and edgy pearlescent effects. Optimally enhancing the aesthetic and ergonomic qualities of your surface to withstand the most challenging environments.
Metallic pigments are used in many different types of epoxy projects, from metallic epoxy flooring systems to hand-poured epoxy countertop projects. They are also employed in creating matching epoxy backsplashes, shower surrounds, wall art, and in the creation of one-of-a-kind bar tops, and custom tabletop designs.
Each of our DIY metallic epoxy floor kits contains a primer coat, decorative metallic coat, including two colors of metallic pigment (the main color and an accent color), and a premium protective aliphatic urethane topcoat.
The metallic pigments in our kits have been calculated to be used at a ratio of (4) four ounces per gallon of mixed epoxy. This ratio will achieve the most desired, semi-transparent look, most requested in metallic flooring installations. Please note: Depending on the opacity desired of your final look, metallic pigments can be added at a ratio of up to 12 ounces per gallon.
